Bhavtik Vallabhjee has 22 years of Corporate & Merchant Banking experience in SA and in the Middle East. He has been engaged in structuring major project finance transactions in sectors such as power (incl. Renewable Energy), water, O&G, telecoms, transportation, healthcare & industrial projects. He has worked on several deals in the Middle East and a number of African countries. He has been involved in executing transactions with an aggregate value in excess of US$23bn in his career. He spent 5 years in the Middle East at the height of its infrastructure spending boom where he was a Project Finance banker there. After returning to SA in 2010, he has specifically focused on Renewable Energy and was part of the successful team that successfully closed 17 projects at his previous employer. He is currently Head of Absa's Power, Utilities & Infrastructure team and works across conventional & renewable power technologies in Africa. Most recently, he is part of the team that have closed 12 projects across technologies in renewables with a R22 bn debt commitment.
He is a UK qualified Chartered Management Accountant, has an MBA in Finance, two Honours and a Bachelors degree in Accountancy & Finance.
