General Manager: Africa
Katherine has spent her career of 15 year’s working on project development in Southern and East Africa, and Europe. She has worked as an environmental expert and lender’s adviser, Project Manager, and in recent years as General Manager of Windlab’s African operations where she currently manages a team of project professionals developing and implementing large renewable energy facilities across Southern and East Africa. Windlab’s activities in Africa include projects in six countries (that are run from four offices in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Dar Es Salaam and Nairobi) totalling a development portfolio of over 3GW including Africa’s leading hybrid renewable energy facilities. Katherine has been intimately involved in the development of the South African wind energy industry since REIPPPP Round 1 (and even the days of REFiT!).
Katherine has a keen interest in corporate social responsibility, corporate governance and the role of business in society. She is a proud South African and a great believer in the broad-scale benefits of renewable energy. She currently serves on the SARETEC and SAWEA Boards and is a guest lecturer at various universities. Katherine has a BSc (hons) and MSc from the University of Nottingham (UK) and an MBA from the University of Stellenbosch.
