General Manager- Grid Planning, Eskom
Mbulelo Kibido is a General Manager for Grid Planning at the Transmission Division of Eskom. He is responsible for the expansion of the Transmission Grid. He has served Eskom in various capacities since 1996, starting out as an Area Engineer in the Cape Distributor. He has vast experience acquired in line responsibilities in the Generation, Distribution and Transmission Divisions.
Mbulelo is a registered professional engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). He is also a Senior Member of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE). In recognition of his involvement in the profession, Mbulelo has served two terms as a Councilor of the Engineering Council of South Africa. He has been retained by ECSA to serve as a Member of its Professional Advisory Committee for Electrical Engineers.
Mbulelo is often invited to take part in the accreditation of electrical engineering programmes in the various universities in South Africa. ECSA also uses Mbulelo to evaluate young engineers for readiness to be admitted as Professional Engineers.
